Spotlight Series: Arc
Arc is building Rig, a Rust-based framework for developing AI agents. While many projects focus on creating individual AI agents, Arc is building the underlying infrastructure that allows developers to create and deploy AI systems that can understand context and take meaningful actions across different platforms and blockchains. Think of it as a comprehensive toolkit that handles the heavy lifting of AI agent development, allowing developers to focus on what their agents actually do rather than how to make them work.
The Tech Behind Arc
The Rig framework makes AI agent development practical by solving three key challenges:
First, it handles AI model integration. Instead of developers having to figure out how to work with different AI models (like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini), Rig provides a unified interface. Developers can switch between models or combine them without changing their code. This is all implemented in Rust, which ensures these integrations are both fast and reliable.
Second, it manages how agents store and process information. Through integrations with vector databases like MongoDB, agents can maintain memory and context across interactions. This isn't just simple storage - it's a sophisticated system that lets agents learn from interactions and maintain consistent behavior over time.
Third, it handles blockchain integration. Agents built with Rig can interact directly with multiple blockchain networks through smart contracts and trusted execution environments (TEEs). This means they can read blockchain data, execute transactions, and maintain verifiable records of their actions without requiring complex blockchain-specific code.

Development and Evolution
What sets Arc apart is their approach to framework development through what they call the "continuous innovation loop." It’s a dynamic system where experimental chapters, user feedback, and implementation flow into each other continuously.
The process works in distinct phases. First, Arc releases experimental chapters that test new features and capabilities. These aren't simple updates but carefully designed challenges that push the boundaries of what's possible with AI and blockchain technology. ARC token holders (minimum 50 $ARC) can participate in these experiments, providing real-world testing and feedback.
The feedback system goes beyond simple feature requests or bug reports. Every interaction, every experiment, and every project built on the framework contributes to a growing body of knowledge about how humans and AI can work together effectively. This knowledge then feeds directly back into the framework's development, creating a constant cycle of improvement and innovation.
Ecosystem Partnerships
Arc has built partnerships that expand what developers can do with their agents:
MongoDB provides the vector database infrastructure that powers agent memory systems. Through Arc's handshake program, projects get discounted access to MongoDB Atlas and dedicated support for implementing vector storage.
Shuttle Dev simplifies how agents are deployed and scaled. Their integration means developers can deploy their agents to production environments without managing complex infrastructure.
EternalAI brings decentralized AI models to the ecosystem. Projects can access these models through API credits, reducing their dependence on centralized AI providers.
SendAI, focused on Solana integration, provides specialized tools and grants for developers building AI agents on Solana. Their collaboration includes the Solana Agent Kit, designed specifically for Arc developers, and access to bounty programs for innovative Solana-based agent applications.
The Arbitrum partnership is particularly significant. Through their Stylus grant initiative, projects building on Arc can deploy their agents on Arbitrum's Layer 2 network with financial support. This enables high-performance, low-cost agent operations on Ethereum.
How Projects Use Arc: The Handshake Program
Arc's handshake program is their way of bringing new projects into their ecosystem. Here's how it works:
Developers first submit a project proposal explaining what they want to build with Rig. If selected, they deposit 500 $ARC tokens and go through a review process. Successful projects get added to the Arc registry, where they can receive funding to create liquidity pairs in either $ARC or $SOL.
But the handshake program isn't only about funding. Projects get access to:
Technical resources and support from Arc's team
Integration partners' services (often at discounted rates)
The Arc Complex developer community
Potential grants from blockchain partners like Arbitrum and Solana
Soulgraph
One of the most successful projects to come out of this Handshake program is Soulgraph. With a market cap of $32M, they're building a system that creates AI agents with persistent memory and evolving personalities. Their SoulScript language, a JSON-based specification, defines how agents develop and maintain their personalities while allowing for natural evolution through interactions.
What makes Soulgraph particularly interesting is its approach to agent personality development. Their studio allows users to build meaningful relationships with AI agents while providing open-source infrastructure for developers to add memory and personality features to any agent. The system maintains core personality traits while allowing natural evolution through interactions, creating agents that feel consistent yet capable of growth and adaptation.
Another notable project emerging from the handshake program is Listen-rs, which takes a different approach by focusing on DeFi automation. With a $10M market cap at the moment, they're building tools that let agents monitor and respond to market conditions, manage portfolios across multiple chains, and execute complex trading strategies.
Listen-rs’s system can handle tasks like providing concentrated liquidity with specific parameters, monitoring funding rates, and executing complex trading strategies across multiple blockchains. More importantly, it shows how Arc's framework can be applied to create financial applications that go beyond simple automation.
Tokenomics and Value Accrual
The $ARC token aligns incentives across the ecosystem while supporting long-term development. Most of the supply (90%), launched through pump.fun, is currently in circulation to ensure wide community ownership, while 5.5% is allocated to a prize pool and treasury that supports ecosystem growth. The remaining 4.5% is reserved for the team with a one-year vesting period.
Developers need $50 ARC to join experimental phases, where new features are tested and refined. Projects entering through the handshake program must deposit $500 ARC, ensuring serious commitment from builders. These token requirements, combined with the utility $ARC provides in governance and ecosystem participation, create natural demand as the platform grows.
As more projects build and succeed on Arc, the ecosystem captures value through increased token utility and demand. Successful projects contribute to protocol revenue, while the token's role in governance and access rights ensures that value flows back to holders.
The Road Ahead
Arc continues to evolve their framework through "experiments" - controlled tests of new features and use cases open to ARC token holders. These experiments help shape the framework's development while maintaining high standards for performance and reliability. As more projects join through the handshake program and leverage Arc's ecosystem, the platform is growing into a comprehensive solution for AI agent development across different blockchains and use cases.
