Cod3x - Ushering in DeFAI? What You Need to Know
Agentic Interface, Wallet & Chain Abstraction & More
In yesterday’s first edition of Ailea Bulletin, we discussed a myriad of topics related to the AI agents space. One of them was the rise of DeFAI, the use of AI agents in onchain DeFi.
With players like Hey Anon and Griffain already gaining traction ($GRIFFAIN has already gotten a Binance perps listing), it’s worth spending some more time on this sector, especially as it could potentially impact areas of crypto that are not currently involved with the AI agents craze.
In today’s edition, we’ll be focusing more on DeFi, while also making sure to mention the implications of AI in the onchain landscape, as this is clearly where the AI agents trend is headed; autonomous sending and receiving funds, as well as interaction with DeFi services on users’ behalf.
Specifically, we’ll be discussing Cod3x, a project that has been working at the intersection of AI agents and DeFi before the AI agents meta first kicked off.

Background on Cod3x
Cod3x is an AI-powered UI for crypto. The idea is that users to act via their own agent who participates on DeFi on their behalf, accurately relaying their actions and picking up on user input. The team puts a focus on mobile, and on making things easy to digest and interact with for users.
Cod3x can also provide insights and recommendations based on user behavior, trading history, wallet balances etc.
Cod3x was actually relatively early to the AI agents meta. The team technically brought to market the first crypto plugin on the ChatGPT store.
Cod3x was founded by 0xBebis, who has an extensive history of taking DeFi protocols live in crypto, from stablecoins, to lending and yield aggregators. Since then, these protocols have been consolidated under the Cod3x name, and repurposed for Cod3x’s use of AI agents. Now, the team’s experience developing in DeFi is being channeled with a new UI layer on top of it.

Natural language can be a game changer; it was only a couple of years ago when ChatGPT was first introduced, a major milestone in the consumer adoption of AI. Even while other LLM models have mostly caught up to ChatGPT’s capabilities as far as most users can tell, ChatGPT retains a significant lead when it comes to google search results, and now, revenue. This highlights the importance of a first-mover advantage, and this can be noticed in crypto as well.
So, if agentic interfacing is to become the next step for AI Agents and/or DeFi as a whole, it may be worth considering the role that a protocol that has been building for a while may come to play in this space. Agentic interfacing may be adopted by CEXs, as it could be a good fit for retail audiences that stay on exchanges and don’t come onchain.
We’ve already seen how important a beneficial wallet experience can be for an entire ecosystem or chain, as seen with Phantom and Rabby’s reception. Large foundations might be interested in attracting these sorts of AI app layers to their chain, especially if other chains already have these capabilities.
Cod3x was actually developed in collaboration with some of the larger chains, including Mantle, Polygon, Berachain, Optimism, Fraxtal and the OP stack L2 Mode, which has actually pivoted toward the AI agents theme itself. The team also recently participated in a Solana hackathon focused on AI. So it may be worth watching how Cod3x can integrate with these various ecosystems and also contribute to the broader wallet and chain abstraction movement.
